September Guidance Schedule

Counselor's Corner

Hey parents, The beginning of the school year can be such a fast paced time and maybe even a chaotic time for everyone. Kids of all ages, as well as parents are adjusting to new routines and sometimes even new schools. Just as a reminder as parents, we set the tone for our household. If we are anxious or nervous, our kids will show up the same.
Here are some quick tips:
1) Keep routines in place! Children feel calmer when they know what to expect. Stick to a routine bedtime as well as morning procedures. 2) Kids can pick up on your cues. Even if you feel nervous, keep a calm and reassuring tone towards your child. - this can help them have a better day.
3) Focus on connection not perfection. Ask them about the best and not so good parts about their day and truly listen. Even if it's just the small parts about their day, this helps them feel seen and connected.
