For the second year in a row, CISD celebrates our designated teachers for Teacher Incentive Allotment. Congratulations to these 10 teachers who were recognized Monday evening.

- Superintendent, Dr. Yvonne Munoz, reported to the Board on the upcoming Comfort Education Foundation Golf and Bunco Tournament April 25, 2026 with it being the first year to hold the Bunco Tournament! She reminded the Board about the Summer Leadership Institute June 10-13. Dr. Munoz communicated the professional development opportunity tested area teachers had by going to the Lead4Ward Rockin’ Review Update where they received 10-day plans to countdown to STAAR.
- Director of Academic Services, Dr. Boothe, informed the Board of the recent Benchmark results to reflect the assessment of readiness for the STAAR exam this spring and for teachers to focus on certain skills to meet student growth potential. Dr. Boothe facilitated Data Deep-Dives within vertical teams to overlook benchmark data and plan intensive interventions before the STAAR. Dr. Boothe further reported that TELPAS testing is continuing at secondary campuses.
- Health/Safety/Communications Coordinator, Emily Steffek, informed the Board that the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC Committee) held its second meeting on February 23, 2026 and participated in a presentation by Teen Lifeline Collective; the Wellness Committee provided feedback on wellness programs and initiatives. Mrs. Steffek informed the Board the district is 67% complete (i.e., two of three audits complete) with the Intruder Detection Audit through TEA, and there were zero findings. Mrs. Steffek provided a recap of the February 18th security threat and the joint efforts between first responders and administration in keeping students and staff safe. She informed the Board of the district’s work to improve communication with families and the community by the recent launch of the CISD Instagram account.
- Comfort Elementary School Principal, Mrs. Amy Ellis, gave an update on currently enrollment at 475 students as of 2/26/26. CES recently held a competitive Spelling Bee and celebrated the 100th Day of School PK and K Parade on February 12, 2026. Staff Appreciate and community partnerships continue while all teachers strive for high success for each student.

- Comfort Middle School Principal, Ms. Jolane Maddox, proudly reported to the Board on the celebration of the Robotics team going to state! PLCs continue and CORE Benchmarks have been completed. Ms. Maddox reported the current student enrollment to be 225.
- Comfort High School Principal, Mrs. Sarah Womble, gave an update of CHS’ enrollment at 338. Couse selection began for 8th-11th grade students, and Spring SAT and ACT testing is underway with TSI testing coming soon. Student organizations such as FCCLA, FFA, MCJROTC, Band, and HOSA continue to thrive with engaged students and various activities and projects such as the CHS Plant Garden through Building Trades.
- Food Service Director, Mary Garza, updated the board on meals year-to-date, breakfast participation, and lunch participation. The March harvest of the month included pineapple, radish, and parsley.
- Athletic Director, Jay Rieken, reported on Bobcat Basketball finishing second in district play; the Bobcats secured the Bi-District Championship. Baseball went 3-1 last week, including a 2-1 record at the Live Oak Tournament. The Bobcat Track & Field team opened the season with a strong performance at the Ingram Relays. The boys and girls golf teams have participated in four tournaments so far this season. Four girls have qualified for the Regional Powerlifting Meet and will compete on Saturday, February 28 in Dublin, TX; five boys have qualified for the Regional Powerlifting Meet and will compete on Saturday, March 14 in West, TX.
- Technology Director, Jennifer DiGiacinto, informed the Board of the Benchmark and TELPAS support, addition of 2nd grade Chromebooks, and 4th grade receiving a new set of laptops. Mrs. DiGiacinto gave an update on the security camera upgrade project and on the ongoing PA system upgrade project.
- McLemore janitorial services gave an update about gearing up for track, softball, and baseball season while planning spring break deep cleaning. There will be a job-site safety awareness meeting on important new protocols.
- Operations Director Trent Wilson gave an update on facilities and grounds updates including but not limited to the last implement for the elementary playground, making the track ready for meets, and repairing the 2000-gallon pressure tank for athletic fields. Mr. Wilson informed the Board the district passed the annual elevator inspection for all facilities, and the annual bleacher inspection passed. Mr. Wilson gave an update on transportation and which buses are or are not equipped with seatbelts.

- The School Board approved the Resolution for Superintendent of the Year.
- The School Board approved the Designation of 10 Additional Non-Business Days for Each Calendar Year for Public Information Act.
- The School Board approved Changes to the Comfort High School Course Catalog and Middle School Course Catalog.
- The School Board approved the Revised 2026-2027 School Calendar.
- The School Board approved the Closing of the District July 6-10, 2026.
