Building Confidence Before Testing
This month has been about reviewing calming tools and practicing confidence-building strategies. We are learning that mistakes help our brains grow and that one test does not define who we are.
Students created simple affirmations such as:
- “I can do hard things.”
- “I am prepared.”
- “I will try my best.”
Non-tested grades are reviewing coping tools for everyday worries and big feelings.
Parent Tips:
- Write a short encouragement note for your child to read on testing morning and place it somewhere they can easily find it.
- Keep mornings calm and predictable. Give them plenty of time to wake up and get ready - a rushed morning can increase stress and raise cortisol levels adding to more stress on a day where they already feel pressure.
- Provide a balanced breakfast and plenty of sleep.
- Remind your child: “You are more than a test score.”
Take care,
